Hope everyone will enjoy the Google Map of enrolled students! I'll be updating it every couple of days throughout the month. Make sure you check in to see your spider added when you enroll!

One quick note on our demographics and the map right now - the students on the map as of today (3/27) are all early decision students. ED students tend to come much more heavily from our core regions in Virginia and the mid-Atlantic, so the map is slightly skewed at present. Last year, for example, we enrolled 14 students from Texas, but none of them came through early decision - whereas 40% of the enrolled students from New Jersey were ED. Students from outside our core region tend to leave their options open longer and come in primarily through regular decision.

We thought about making a map of admitted students to more accurately show the geographic spread, but quickly realized that would have been way too huge and cumbersome to work with. In lieu of that, I just wanted to share this with you as you look at the Class of 2013 GoogleMap-style. Get ready to watch spiders pop up all over the map!

Another update to the Google Map this morning!

It occurs to me that you might want to see what our overall student body looks like once all is said and done, so I thought I would share links to our maps of current U.S. student geography and current countries represented at Richmond. When you compare these maps to the Google Map, you can definitely see that students from our secondary and tertiary regions (e.g. West Coast, International) tend to enroll much later in the month than students from our core regions.

So don't worry, Texans and Californians and Coloradans and international students! You are well-represented at Richmond... you just tend to enroll later. (Let's get those numbers up!!)

Wow! Leave the office for a few days of recruitment, and look what happens! It's taken me almost all day, between all the other catch-up I'm doing, to update the map.

This week alone we've had students representing half the states in the union enroll. The Californians are finally starting to arrive (told you it would just take some time!) 7 new students from CA have joined the Class of 2013, along with students from 24 other states: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin. We also have several new countries represented in the Class of 2013, including Pakistan, Qatar, and Ghana - along with a few more new spiders from China, Bulgaria, the UK, and Canada.

Welcome to all!!
